Rooftop
Rodeo | Former Royalty | Ashley Murray - 2009 Rooftop Rodeo Queen - Hello, and welcome to the 83rd annual Rooftop Rodeo. My name is Ashley Murray and I’m the 2009 Rooftop Rodeo Queen. It is a huge honor to be representing such an amazing rodeo and I would like to thank everyone who helped me get to this position.
I’m the 17 year old daughter of Sean and Theresa Murray and the younger sister of Amber Scott. This year I am a Jr. at Estes Park High School. In my spare time I enjoy riding my two horses. Shadow and, my queen horse, DZ. I have been riding horses for eleven years and have been involved with the Rooftop Rodeo for five years. I was in our local 4-H club for about five years before I got into the rodeo scene. This year my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer so I support the Cancer Research Foundation. On my chaps I have a pink ribbon on both sides.
It’s such an honor to be representing one of the best rodeos in America. In 2003 and 2006 the Rooftop Rodeo was voted as the Best Small Outdoor Rodeo of the Year and it has been nominated for this prestigious award for the last 7 years by the cowboys and cowgirls of the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association). So, let’s get ready for an incredible rodeo with your family and friends!

| Kellsie Purdy - 2007 Queen - "I
feel is both privileged and blessed to live here and be able to represent the Rooftop
Rodeo and my town of Estes Park. Eleven years ago I attended my first Rooftop Rodeo and I
was hooked for life. Eighty years ago 22,000 people attended the first ever Rooftop Rodeo;
today we sit here in a celebration of our beloved Western heritage and lifestyle. I am the
sixteen year olf daughter of Mark & Michelle Purdy and the older sister of Noah (who
is a wrangler in this year's rodeo!). I will start my junior year at Estes Park High
School this Fall. I enjoy spending time riding my three horses around the trails of Estes
Park. Our two American Quarter Horses are named Congo's Corona and Zippo's Cowboy and my
Mustang is named Pepper. I have been a member of the Ghost Riders 4-H Club for eight year
and love to participate in their local show each year. My mom and I spend our summers
volunteering with the local Therapeutic Riding program - this will be our fifth summer! I
enjoy working with children with disabilities and I have worked with both stick horse and
exceptional rodeos. I have fun running cross country and track, skiing, rock climbing, and
attending our church's youth group. I am a member of both the Estes Park Equestrian Club
and the Certified Horsemanship Association. I am very honored to represent the Rooftop
Rodeo and the Town of Estes Park, and I hope you come to love rodeo as much as I do."
