Directors and Officers

Chairman: Mark Purdy

 
Mark first got involved with the Rooftop Rodeo ten years ago when his children joined its Royalty Program. After six years in that program, his daughter Kellsie would go on to become Miss Rodeo Colorado 2011; because of her positive experience in the program and the support she received from both the Rooftop and the Town of Estes Park, Mark joined the team to help ensure that the Rooftop's Royalty Program would remain among the best in Colorado. As an original incorporator of Estes Park Western Heritage, Inc., he has leveraged his background in financial, compliancy and business process application software to help develop best practices during the early stages of the organization. He has served as both Treasurer and Vice President. His wife Michelle and daughter Kellsie are also members of Estes Park Western Heritage Inc. and together, as a family, they enjoy furthering the mission of Estes Park Western Heritage by helping to preserve the western way of life.

Director: Jo Adams

 
Jo was born and raised in Estes Park and has lived most of her life in Glen Haven and Estes Park.  Involvement in Rooftop Rodeo started at age 14 with the Ribbon girl program continuing on through representing the Rooftop Rodeo as Queen in 1965.  After living in Alaska for 19 years she returned to Estes Park and joined the Rooftop Rodeo Committee in 1991. She has chaired or worked on various committees and was President three terms.  Keeping the tradition and spirit of the Rooftop Rodeo for many generations to come and a love of the sport are the driving force behind this longtime member.

Director: David Dean

 
David is Chairman and CEO of Miller International, Inc. Before joining what is now Miller International, Dean served as Director of Taxation for RMC USA, Inc., a multi-billion dollar supplier of building materials. Prior to joining RMC, he was a private consultant and assisted in structuring the recapitalization of Rocky Mountain Clothing Co, eventually becoming their CFO. In addition to Denver-based investment banking experience, David served in leadership roles for accounting firms Ernst & Young, Deloitte & Touche, Price Waterhouse, and JD Ford and Company. Miller International owns several brands including Cinch, Cruel Girl, Southern Thread, Miller Ranch, and Rod Patrick Boots.

Director: Rick Life

 
While attending the University of Northern Colorado, Rick Life spent summers working in Estes Park at Cheley Colorado Camps where he learned horsemanship. His wife to be, Sandee, roped him into being a “Wrangler” (volunteer) for the Greeley Independence Stampede. Later, after moving to Estes he founded the Estes Park Marathon and served as the race director. His daughter Lexie joined the Rooftop Rodeo (RTR) royalty program so he and his wife Sandee joined the RTR Committee. He served as vice president of the RTR before becoming a founding member of Estes Park Western Heritage, Inc. (EPWH). He enjoys sharing the sport of rodeo with fans as a guide for the EPWH Behind the Chutes Tours. Rick is a sergeant with the Estes Park Police Dept.

Director: Dudley Mitchell

 
Dudley is a past President and now Director of operations in Europe and Canada for the Panattoni Development Company. Panattoni is one of the largest commercial real estate companies in the world. When not working in the high stress business world he relaxes at his cattle ranch in Wyoming.

Director: Ben Vigil

 
Ben joined the Rooftop Rodeo Committee in 2002. He is now the Rodeo General Chairman, and consequently oversees all rodeo related activities. Prior to becoming the Rodeo General Chairperson he was a member of the chutes crew and eventually the Chutes Director. He has also served as the Chairman for the Queens Dance. Ben served four years in the United States Marine Corps and has had careers in Cable TV as a technician and with Longmont, CO Light & Power as a Ground man. Ben and his wife Amy currently own and operate Vigil Painting & Design and are major sponsors for the Rooftop Rodeo. Ben and Amy live in Estes Park CO. They have three daughters and three grandchildren.

Director: Steve Wilson

 
Steve Wilson has been a Rooftop Rodeo (RTR) Committee member since 2000. His involvement includes every aspect of the RTR. He has served as VP for two terms and was Arena Director for many years as well. Steve has been a business owner in Estes Park for the last 35 years, including being owner/operator of the YMCA of the Rockies Livery at Estes Park Center and Snow Mountain Ranch for 25 years, 20 of those years he served as president of the Estes Park Liverymen's Association. He participated and competed in rodeo sports events, horse shows, and draft horse competitions. His goal is to keep the traditions of the western atmosphere in Estes Park alive and well and help develop the future successes and progressive growth of Estes Park Western Heritage, Inc. Steve and Evelyn, his wife of 30 years, have two children, ages 26 & 24, who were born and raised in Estes Park.

General Counsel: Josh Westmoreland

 
Josh is an Estes Park-based, general practice lawyer with a strong interest in estate planning, business formation and planning, real estate and land use, and family law. During law school, Josh was the Senior Articles Editor of the Boston College Environmental Affairs Law Review where he edited articles written by top environmental law legal scholars and practitioners. Josh is a member of Estes Park Western Heritage, Inc. and during Rooftop Rodeo week he is the rodeo security chairperson.

President & CEO: Howell Wright

 
Howell is one of the incorporators of Western Heritage and he has been on the Rooftop Rodeo committee since 2005. Four of these years he has served as president. As a young man he started in rodeo as a bareback rider, bullfighter, and clown. He had careers as a United States Marine (Colonel, Ret.), a senior education manager for the Internal Revenue Service, and a university professor. He holds a Doctorate in Adult Education and he demonstrated his 501 (c) (3) leadership capabilities as the President of a major chapter of the American Heart Association. His goal for EPWH is that the organization will continue to develop as a positive influence in the Estes Park community. Howell lives in Estes Park, CO with his wife J’Ann. They have two children and two grandchildren.

Vice President: Mike Cossota

 

Treasurer: Theresa Murray

 
Theresa has been around the Rooftop Rodeo since her husband, Sean Murray, introduced her to the world of rodeo 18 years ago. Her volunteer status evolved when their daughter became a Princess and eventually earning the 2009 Rooftop Rodeo Queen title. Once an active member, she hit the ground running as the Hospitality Chairperson, a royalty committee member, a bylaws committee member and recently moving into the Treasurer position. Theresa brings years of bookkeeping experience and a keen ability of thinking outside the box. She has the desire to build EPWH to be a strong foundation for the next 86 years of Rooftop Rodeo. Theresa and her husband, Sean, live in Estes Park and have two wonderful daughters and son-in-laws.

Secretary: J'Ann Wright

 
J’Ann is one of the incorporators of Western Heritage. She has served on the Rooftop Rodeo committee since 2005. During that time, she has been the chairperson of the Western Heritage Antique Show and she developed the “Behind the Chutes Tour” program. She is also on the Rooftop Rodeo Parade planning committee. She is currently coordinator for the Rooftop Rodeo Royalty program. J’Ann began her professional career as a middle school teacher. After completing her Doctorate in Adult Education, she worked with pre-professional teachers as an associate professor at MidAmerica Nazarene University and later with professional educators as the Director of Graduate Studies. After moving to Estes Park, J’Ann worked as the Director of Field Seminars for the Rocky Mountain Nature Association, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit. Her goals for EPWH are to help the organization share and promote the Western Heritage of the region and to assist young people in achieving their goals through the Estes Park Western Heritage Scholarship Fund of which she is the chairperson. J’Ann lives in Estes Park, CO with her husband, Howell. They have two children and two grandchildren.
